Workshop Organization
Workshop Format and Timetable
The workshop will be held online and incorporate an introductory and final plenary sessions, an open call and sessions for papers and posters, pre-recorded presentations and posters available for viewing and commenting before the workshop week, a two-day interactive online poster session, 2 days with meeting sessions for individual topics to develop recommendations. A workshop report of recommendations will be produced and available on-line for review by workshop participants, before finalization. The workshop website will be available as a long-term record for workshop participants.
Key dates
Prior to the workshop week
- 18 July 2022: Access to accepted abstracts, posters and pre-recorded presentations opened including space for comments and questions by registered participants
- 2 September 2022: Deadline for uploading of pre-recorded presentations and posters
- 20 and 22 September 2022 (09h00 to 10h00; 12h00 to 13h00; 16h00 to 17h00, UTC+2): Trial sessions with Gather Town Platform
The workshop week: All online
- 26 September 2022 (13h00 to 16h15, UTC+2): Introductory Plenary Session Webinar
- 27-28 September 2022 (13h00 to 16h00, UTC+2): Online interactive poster sessions (using the Gather Town platform)
- 29-30 September 2022 (13h00 to 15h00, UTC+2): Online meetings for Topic Specific Recommendation Development Sessions
- 30 September 2022 (15h00 to 17h00, UTC+2): Webinar for Final Plenary Session on Workshop Recommendations
Post workshop week
- 14 October 2022: Workshop draft recommendations issued for comment
Partner and Stakeholder Organizations
Organizations may support the workshop as either Partners or Stakeholders.
Partner Organizations
Organizations wishing to apply for Partner status for the BIPM-WMO workshop shall:
- have activities related to the workshop themes and aligned to aims of workshop;
- be prepared to provide support for the meeting organization and financial support for meeting platforms;
- promote the workshop and solicit submissions of posters and presentations from their organization and relevant networks;
- provide experts for peer reviews of submitted abstracts for papers/presentations;
- be willing to promote the outcomes of the workshop.
If granted partner status, the organization will:
- have its logo added to the Workshop webpage, and a brief description of how its activities relate to the Workshop aims, and a link to the Partner Organization’s chosen webpage;
- have a dedicated room in the virtual meeting and be able to interact directly with participants in the poster/presentations sessions;
- have a link from the workshop webpage to a summary of the presentations, posters and room events that it is sponsoring/ providing during the workshop;
Stakeholder Organizations
Organizations wishing to apply for Stakeholder status for the BIPM-WMO workshop shall:
- have activities that are consistent with the workshop aims;
- be willing to promote the outcomes of the workshop.
If granted partner status, the organization will:
- have its name added to the Workshop webpage, and a link to the Stakeholders Organization’s chosen webpage;
- have the opportunity to submit a poster for review and inclusion in the virtual poster/presentation sessions.
The decision to accept or deny an organization for either partner or stakeholder status lies solely with the Workshop Chairs, and in submitting an application the organization agrees to abide by the decision taken.

Themes and Topic Teams
Topic Teams, including Chair and Rapporteur, have been established to support the organization of the workshop, with roles of reviewing abstract submissions, organizing the topic discussion meetings and preparing reports of recommendations from each topic.
